New Arrival to Burgess Modern + Contemporary
Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973)
Portraits Imaginaires (14.3.69 II), 1969, (EA/500)
Lithograph 25 x 19 in
Lithograph in colors, 1969, pencil signed by the artist's collaborator Marcel Salinas, marked as artist's proof "E.A." in pencil (apart from the total edition of 500), from Editions Cercle D'Art.
Original lithograph on Arches paper after Pablo Picasso created in 1969. From the portfolio Portraits Imaginaire (Imaginary Portraits). In January 1969, at the age of 87, Picasso received a shipment of painting supplies packed with sheets of brown corrugated cardboard. Inspired by these 'blank canvases' Picasso set about painting a series of imaginary portraits over the next four months in simple brilliant colors, many referring back to Picasso’s own earlier images: Balzac, Shakespeare and the dandies of 17th century Holland.
